Oh Home! That you exist, my compass bless
Widely I have traveled, I’ll climb the miles
Sweat on my brow—I rush to the address
Making the hours gallop, my heart to smile
As when a cloud the golden moon will veil
So will the vines, grown lush during the years
Like waterfalls, their welcome rays prevail
Whatever appears serves to calm my fears
Joyful I picture those who wait for me
Likewise, my suspense when home I arrive
Complete I feel as the steps set me free,
Before fitting the key, hugs and high-fives
Oh Home, my soul’s scope—even with the loss
And I’ll bury my soul in a scrapbook
With the photographs there and the moss
By hair’s breath can I cross over the brook
My dry bowl is still brimming me over
Echoes remain of life’s supreme sweet clover.

Welcome, Selma ☺️
home is everything
Oh yes.
“Mid pleasures and palaces though we may roam,
Be it ever so humble there’s no place like home!…”
Even when home is not physically there we still feel home in our hearts (methinks) bless you Beth 🤗
Beautiful
I appreciate you reading, dear friend. Blessings and happy summering. xo
Beautifully written, Selma.
Chris, I’m so happy this one was to your liking. I bless you. Happy summering (it’s going fast you know: get it while it’s hot,,,)
A stunning verse, Selma. Beautiful!
Aww, most delighted you enjoyed it. The poem, wrote it the night before for WDYS–a regular Shakespearean sonnet. And in the morning saw the prompt for dVerse which required more words. So, feeling audacious, worked it to fit into a heroic sonnet>>the laugh’s on me–It fit exactly but it was supposed to be prose [duh!] OMG, I must be tired. Still, I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Thanks. xoxo
Oh dear! It happens. We take like far too seriously sometimes. Relax; you did good! ♡
So beautiful Selma, Maggie
Hey, Maggie, thanks so much. Thanks so much for stopping by… blessings on your summering. Bee Cool.
Such joy in your poem, Sadje. Oh sweet home!❤️
Cindy, hi. You must be tired too… calling me Sadje… that’s ok. I get you my lovely. So happy you read and commented. I will get to yours when I can; at the moment, I think the sky is falling and I gotta keep running. I want it to be October already. Happy summering to you.
So beautiful, Selma! Yes, truly, there is no place like home.
No place like home. It’s a fact. Bee well. Bee cool.
Home sweet home !
Lovely Selma 🤗
There’s something so special about home. Even recalling it so many years later (even when that home “has moved”) is still special. Thanks for reading and commenting, Maggie. Bless you.
There is my friend !
It is a pleasure always Selma !
Your poem beautifully captures the deep yearning for home and the emotional journey associated with returning to a cherished place. The imagery of travel, physical exertion, and emotional relief evokes a powerful sense of anticipation and fulfillment. The contrast between the warmth of homecoming and the challenges faced along the way is vividly portrayed, with a poignant reflection on the memories and experiences that define our sense of belonging. The final lines, with their references to a scrapbook and the echo of life’s sweetness, poignantly highlight the lasting impact of home on the soul.
Mich. I appreciate you and this deep analysis. 🧐thanks
