I Decided: How Being Aware of My Thoughts and Emotions Transformed My Life.
by Wahiba C. Rekkab (Goodreads Author)

I Decided: How Being Aware of My Thoughts and Emotions Transformed My Life
by Wahiba C. Rekkab is a timely addition to any library shelf.

Its part memoir, part self-help handbook is its greatest appeal as is its focus on affirmations that are bound to help change where one focuses one’s attention at
any given moment.

It’s inspiring and motivational in more ways than you’ll ever know unless you read
the lessons this Author lived through to arrive at the place she arrived.

Immediately I felt this individual was all heart for wanting to reach those battling
self-doubt and challenges.

In her gentle voice, Author Rekkab recounts her ordeal with an incurable disease
which gave rise to various versions of herself. Through her intimate account, the
Author invites us into her world, and shares the tools she used—one we all come
equipped with but often overlook—to fill her life with hope and spiritual faith and
winning a hard battle.

I liked how we come to know this Author through her various acquaintances: her
yoga instructor who wrote the Foreword and the many positive reviewers who,
besides loving the book also touched on the Author as an individual with a
generous heart. And I adored the motivational quotes throughout:

“What if pain and obscurity serve as powerful motivators to push us higher and
allow light to shine through us?”

“…hold on to something more significant, more prominent than our fears, and
more potent than our doubts.”

I was deeply touched by the second and third parts, titled “Plumbing the Depths
of Truth”
and “A Daily Handbook for A Positive Life” sections, nodding gladly at
how the advice is relevant and actionable in any present moment if we change
our mindsets.

Also, the part titled  “Wahiba-The Evolution.” Here, the Author explains that her
journey to healing is not specific to healing multiple sclerosis but is a framework
for profound self-awareness along with deep inner healing. I cried in this section.
But by the end of the book, I too, was mesmerized once again by the power of the
human mind.

In the book, the Author writes that this book “will particularly appeal to migrants
and those feeling out of place in their environment.” A keen observation. But
aren’t we all a little bit migrants and a little bit out of place? I think this book
is for everyone.

climb out of that kind of depressive spiral; look for the light within,

walk the path of healing, find fulfillment and happiness,

trust in the process,

love is a great healer,

I can’t help but agree. I highly recommend this book.

On a personal note:
I have known and engaged with this beautiful Author on Twitter for many years. And
for many years, she has been one of the few who saw me and uplifted my spirits on
that platform. (Precisely why I hung on on Twitter). And that kind of kindness
moves me.

This is one more person I want to support for making me feel seen. And all the support
you give this lovely human will return to you tenfold–I know. And yes, you will have
my appreciation as well. Thank you beforehand.

Thanks for reading my review.
I also posted the same review on Amazon, Japan.
