You, The People! Do Not Despair

This week in September, Japan celebrates two holidays: Monday is Respect Of
The Aged Day
, and Friday, Autumnal Equinox Day. And we benefit from two days
of rest, perfect!

September has always been a sentimental month for me– it’s the month before
my birthday and I love how September makes me breathe easy as I thread uphill
onto October to add one more year to this frugal chariot that houses my ageless
soul.

That said, I want to fill the rest of the glorious month with bits of inspiration I’ve
been saving for just such an occasion. I hope you enjoy this oldie.

Do not despair!

I should like to help-- human beings
are like that. They want to live by
each other's happiness; not each other's
misery
but we have lost the way, greed has
poisoned man's souls, has barricaded
the world with hate and has goose-stepped us
into misery...
Our knowledge has made us cynical our cleverness,
hard and unkind
We think too much and feel too little

Do not despair, the misery that's upon us
is but the passing of greed, the bitterness
of men who fear the way of human progress;
the hate of men who will pass
and dictators die
and the power they took from the people
will return to the people--
You, the people!

Hannah, can you hear me?
Hannah, wherever you are look up, Hannah...

"The Great Dictator" 1940

The complete speech is in this video clip. Please take a moment to be reminded
of something that’s hard to believe, considering all our eyes see, our ears hear,
and our souls feel about the world today. You will feel better after this. Promise.

Balance is difficult when we humans have emotions to draw on and blame.
For surely it cannot be ‘us’ at fault? We who have collectively take gifts that did not belong to us,
made pages of rules to follow always with exceptions or hidden agendas.

Too many people of false power have tried to destroy the good of people. May we continue to prove those few wrong and help those in need. By what ever gifts we have; money, things or even just prayer and smiles.

    I too have a birthday next month… A good month indeed πŸ™‚
    Happy, happy!!

“or even just prayer and smiles” yes, yes. This. because prayers are smiles have wings. Thanks for saying this.
October… you too? I didn’t know (or I forgot) I am so glad to share October with you. Yay! Blessings, Jules. Lots of them. xoxo

Hey, I’m in land of the rising sun, Japan. Our holly-days were over saturated with rain. Strong rains. Typhoon rains. Today Saturday they still fall fast and loud. πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ and thunder. Oh my! Thanks for reading and commenting. Blessing you.

      1. Laura Bloomsbury

Wish I was there despite the typhoon rains – what an interesting life you seem to lead from Belize to the Orient
