When You Talk Sweet Talk I Shiver Fevered #dVerse

When you hold mi han'
an' talk sweet talk
a gets shivers down mi spine
wobbles in mi walk

smiling crooked
a needs a breather
shakin' lurid
I quiver fevered

I hear the strum
clear the air
so I succumb
to the Spanish guitar

Merril D Smith at dVerse Poet’s Pub prompted us to use shiver–or some form of the word—in a poem of exactly 44 words. The form is up to you. Shiver in rhyme, or shiver in free verse. Shiver in the past, present, or future. Thanks, Merril.

For this prompt, I thought of and tried to imitate the rhythm of a song my sons loved.
Well, I loved it too: I’m Shakin’ by Jack White. And so I danced.

        1. Selma Martin

That’s the ultimate truth. Cannot be contained. Wish it turned to a virus like the one we’re confronting right now. Imagine!

Dancing does come on like that–and you must! (K)

    1. Selma Martin

So glad you know about that too. And glad to know you take it seriously too. Let’s all do a little Bo Diddly, why don’t we. Thanks for the comment, K. I appreciate you. xoxo

  5. Manja Maksimovič

I don’t know how I managed to completely overlook this 10-year-old song. Positively groovy, as is your poem. I like it how he says “I’m Bo Diddley”. 😀

I have a question. Can it be that I recognize the ending of one of my poems in there, or was is a coincidence because so you danced as well? 😉

    1. Selma Martin

You’re amazing, already, and doing so much already. The kids brought that song to my attention and we danced often.

The question… Is it similar? That would be a compliment indeed. Perhaps I read it. Dunno. But this one, this time came to me from a good and holy place.
Let me read yours, please. I want to. How long ago did you send that glider out? Excited to read…

      Thanks, my sweet.

    1. Selma Martin

You liked it!? So pleased. Thanks. Come often, please. xoxo

Sublime! I dance with you Selma and shiver too at the sweet talk. Especially roused by the squeeze of a companionable hand**. Thank you for sharing the Miracel of languid limpid lucid language xxx

Hey, Jaya. I bee-lined to Sheeran. I’d never heard this one before. It’s a nice one indeed and it would have been just the song for the prompt.
