Hurl Me to The Moon #TankaTuesday #PoetsChoice #Etheree

At Coleen Chesebro’s Tanka Tuesday, the first week calls for the poet’s choice. My choice this week is an Etheree: a poem that consists of ten lines of 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 lovely syllables. This one includes the syllabic form in reverse order as well. I hope you enjoy it, as it was fun to write it. Hurl me to the moon to never return, lest I get my act together.

HURL ME TO THE MOON

aye
rid me
finally
of all fancy
in recitations
to go visit the moon
send those more learned, more gifted
pray I instead: make me evolve
rooted, sharpened, attuned with the earth
grant me wisdom to know how to do it
with what I have, firm in my nucleus
adjusted, more mooned with Mother Earth
steadfast to do what's right for her
grit to be queasy at times
sharp to my life's purpose
in transient moments
with roots grown deep,
otherwise
hurl me
far

    I think human’s became troubled when they were gifted with fire.
    May we learn to use all our efforts to save the planet… yet cycles continue in time.
    And some time we may just be hurled to the moon to live there.
    (Just perhaps not in our lifetimes.)

          Right you are. The moon wouldn’t like those beans. And the beans wouldn’t survive it either. So then what?!
          One must atone and change to continue living in planet earth.
          That’s the whole point!
