Edge Of Sentimentality– Lynn’s Tuesday Picture Prompt #ltpp

‘Twas the tattered For Sale sign 
 That led me deeper into these woods 
 A gasp leaped out before me 
 And nudged me to take a closer look 

 Long legs skipped me over pampas grass
 Dried flowers stuck onto my sides
 Until I found myself face to face 
 Before the moss-covered little house

 Her walls were stained with lifelessness
 Her door depressed and worn 
 No little ray of sunshine walked in
 Or ran up and down her floors

 Her windows lay in shatters
 The curtains were no more,
 No wind chimes
 No dreamcatcher

 No bird feeder
 No laughter
 No music
 No prose

 It saddened me to see her
 Looking so furlong
 How many seasons had she heard no cachinnation?
 Gave me nostalgia for the little old house

 I wish a family with children would buy her
 To bring her warmth and a reason to be
 Or a handyman or handywoman
 To care and straighten her door frame
 Or perhaps, even a ghost

evoked a feeling of nostalgia in me, so that’s the feeling I tried to bring into
today’s poem.
