Dad jokes amuse me. The last one I heard from my neighbor is that he was on a seafood diet. It made me give a double take, befuddled—for an answer because I knew he was a bit iffy about seafood. But, but he beat me to a reply when he added that he only eats what he sees.
“I eat only the food that I see.” 🤣
Dad jokes amuse me.
No, seriously! That was so funny. Even as funny as lending an old annoying friend money.
Well—You know how they say that money talks, it’s true! I lent money to this annoying friend and never saw her a-gain! So yeah, money talks: Goodbye!
It was worth every penny. And what’s more, I enjoy every minute of it.
I hear she spends lots of time dodging me. That is good. And I really have a clean conscience over the result.
This amuses me too.
What about you—what amuses you?

…and this week we’re celebrating David himself. He bore it all last week and is so deserving of this honor. How very cool. I couldn’t be happier. 👏🏽 🤠
Okie dokie ~ Let’s do this thing!
I. The prompt poem:
‘Puttering along, or: Sputtering’, an ekphrastic limerick by David ben Alexander
II. David ben Alexander’s prompt guidelines
• Write a poem about something that amuses you!

Submissions are open for 5 days, until Monday, July 22, 10:00 AM (GMT+2)
Epistle Poem:
Epistle is a poetry form that reads like a letter or short note.
Epistolary poems can be in any form, such as free verse with no meter or rhyme, or of a more formal style with couplets and rhyming quatrains. It is totally up to the author. There are no hard and binding rules to follow. Writing an epistle is a fun way to write in loose form.
I hope you enjoyed my poem today.
As for the featured image, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was created by a dad poking fun at hilarity for hilarity sake. 🍶
Stay cool everyone and add a good belly laugh to your day.

You’re most welcome my friend

Hi Selma, a fun poem today. I will take a look at the new challenge. I was to stressed last week to write a limerick.
Too stressed, that’s no good. Take it easy, dear Robbie. Glad you thought this was fun. Stay warm and toasty over there. Blessings.
HI Selma, thank you for your kind message.
Dad jokes are the best! Great response to the prompt!
Great that you think so too, Heather. I enjoy the hilarity of these kind of jokes. Thanks for reading. xo
My pleasure.

Happy to know you liked it, Beth. Those monkeys were so funny, right? haha.
Great joke & nice response. Selma! Fun poem. I like v
Happy you enjoyed the fun, dear Raj. Stay cool
Yes, Here’s cool! Everyday raining 😔!
I love that last monkey, he has the right plan of action.
that last monkey… haha. So modern.
🤣🎊
Haha, that’s a good joke, Selma. 🤣
Happy to know you enjoyed it, Miriam. Blessings.
It was great, Selma. 🙂
Love corny jokes, from mom or dad. 😄 Never a shortage of things to be amused by in this thing called life. 😊
In this thing called life we need such kinds of jokes. Thanks, Michele Lee dear. xoxo
Every day if possible. 😊 Thank you sweet Selma. xoxo
Thanks for the smiles Selma. There aren’t enough jokes floating around these days. (K)
I like smiling people. And that more laughing people. Happy this one gifted you a smile, K. Bless you. xoxo *wink*
Oh, this made me smile 😊 laugh actually 😆
Happy 😆 😂
My husband David is the king of Dad jokes. The only problem is he tells the same ones over and over. Is that part of the “dad-joke requirement”?
David is King 👑 Yay.
A treasure indeed. 👏🏽
I can’t say if it’s a requirement but I’d treasure him just the same. Or more!
I don’t see my comment…Did you get one from me?
Did.
Lol, that was me… Anonymous…
Anon. Thanks for setting me straight. Bless you.
That “anonymous” was me!
Great fun, Selma. 😁💓
Yeah. Fun 🤩 thanks, Lesley
Fun Selma. I wish I could stop the “see food and eat it” I love how you put these together
💞Suzanne
😜 are you struggling with the food you see? Seafood 😂
I really am 😂
Enjoy 😉
Great fun piece Selma. Actually it makes me think of my husband and his dad, and uncle. They all share dad jokes and I think it is a very kind way of checking in with family every so often. I am thankful that they have that connection. It is a blessing. Yes indeed some poems get repeated over and over, but that in itself makes me laugh. Thanks for the big smile Selma. Many blessings kind friend. 🥰
That is wonderful, Joni. The repetition is precious. You’re surrounded by good people. Bless you.
You too, my friend. I meant jokes not poems. Yes, I think there is a lot of joy where there is laughter. It makes my husband smile and that makes me smile too. Blessings to you on this Sunday. Lots of love ❤️
Very cute poem. You have such a great sense of humor!
🙃 happy to share 😂
Dad jokes are such fun! I so enjoyed this, Selma!😊
Aww. Thanks for agreeing with the Dad Jokes thing.
You are welcome.
Selma the only jokes I here around home are dad jokes!! Honestly, some are awful groaners but others dance on my funny bone!!
It’s good to give the dads a stage to shine. We need the balancing act or we Moms , with OUR ‘proper ways’ (is that left or right brain dunno) will get stressed out. 😰 no good no good. Yay for dad jokes.
Thanks Val 🤗
Haha, I love hearing dad jokes and watching people’s reactions to them! Fun poem and interesting image, Selma – the fourth ape must be the introvert of the group 😂❤️
🤗 🤣 🤔
That “seafood” joke is such a classic – I’ve always loved it! I’m on the same diet! 😀
This was a super fun read, Selma! <3
~David
😜 happy you liked. XoXo
I also love a good dad joke! My kids enjoy the corniest jokes; my oldest son even checks “joke books” out of the library and reads them aloud to the car on our drives to school, lol.
How very cute, your son. Now you’ll never run out of laughs. 👏🏽
So true! 😁
