Hidden in full sight under the weeping willow
I sit
writing
my morning pages,
when
perfectly drenched in enthusiasm
a gaggle of kids draws close,
but still keeping at a distance
I hear them whispering through heavy breathing—
a giggle here,
a giggle there,
a throat clearing—
then their silky heads are too close
to mine,
eyes keen on my scribblings
"What are you doing," they ask all at once.
Our heads, only inches apart
I can smell
the sunshine in theirs.
"Getting ready to write a poem," I chirp.
"Can we try too, can we… too?"
I hand out pen
and
paper to each,
delighting in the splash of happiness.
And without preamble
or much ado but
with our knees touching,
we sit and
write
enthusiastic poems.

Let’s continue poeting away, dear comrades.

Verily verily so 🤗
There is a pleasure in writing a story in pen because you don’t have to worry about the mistakes.
Right you are. And no one needs erasers. So pen works. 👏🏽 🤗
