Dectina Refrain: Two of Your Favorite Things, My Love

A rework of an old poem for my second try at the new poetry form I learned
from a colleague here on WordPress.

me to this poetry form. I like it. I can see how it could get addictive 😲 😉

Dectina Refrain: This form was invented by Marion Friedenthal and named
‘Dectina Refrain’ by Luke Prater. It’s written with your syllables going: 
1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9/ 10.
Your 10th line comprises your first four lines as one stand-alone line.

      You’re the sweetest, Nancy. If it hadn’t been for you i wouldn’t have heard about the Dectina Refrain when I finally did. Perhaps much later as it was bound to find purchase somewhere—it is so good. I will always remember. I’m an elephant like that. (An elephant never forgets?! Me!) I am enjoying the form. Thanks so much.
      Yes, this platform is good for introducing us. The blessing. Glad to have met you. Here’s where I’ve been spending hours discovering with others.

      But.
      But for two months now I’ve been trying to curb my time here reading. I get vertigo. Late Spring/early summer. My eyes go cross eyed when I do too much reading too. Lose my balance.

      Thank goodness there are flowers. And audiobooks and such. Today I spent a good chunk of the evening listening to Anne Murray. Guess where I heard it’s her birth day? Oh wait— from You! I dig it. Thanks again. Be well, my sweet. See you on the poetry trail. Hugs.

      1. Oh dear! I’ve heard from other sufferers that vertigo is extremely unpleasant. How unusual (I think) that it strikes you only in late spring/early summer! Well, I guess there’s consolation to be found wherever we look for it. I remember after an extremely difficult knee surgery and rehab, I played Anne Murray’s “You Needed Me” for my husband and I just totally lost it. Music will always have that effect on me. Make the most of your downtime with good music to keep you company. Hopefully the vertigo will ease off soon. It’s lovely talking with you, dear Selma. Take extra special care of yourself. 🫶🏼
